Chef, Baker, Writer & Food Stylist

Renowned for her artistic decorative flair & pastry knowledge

Julie Jones is a global Instagram star thanks to her carefully crafted, beautifully styled pies, tarts and bakes.

After retraining as a chef between 2008-2010, and following an inspiring stage at the Fat Duck in 2009, Julie's dream was to work within Michelin starred kitchens. However, soon after completing her studies; she married, was expecting her second child and her mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of dementia.

As a job involving long hours in a high-pressure kitchen was not going to be possible, instead she chose to put her career on hold look to after her family. While caring for her Mum, Julie started baking with her as a mutual form of therapy. She shared images of their baking days on Instagram and poured out her feelings to her growing number of followers.

Soon, her eye-catching bakes and emotional outpourings were resonating with people across the world, gaining her a large and loyal fanbase, which led to her debut cookbook Soulful Baker being published by Jacqui Small in 2017, with editions in the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada and Germany.

Julie works tirelessly to raise awareness of dementia, highlighting the positive powers that baking has on its sufferers and raising money for dementia related charities. Her Instagram feed entices and inspires home bakers to tap in to their creative side and turn their baking into an art form.

In 2018 Julie was awarded the prestigious OFM award for Best Instagram Feed and her work has allowed her to team up with some of her food idols, including Jamie Oliver.

At home Julie continues to cook and bake daily, developing and writing recipes. In between family life, she runs successful supper clubs and hosts online cookery classes, where spaces are always in high demand.

Her second book The Pastry School launched 5th March 2020 and is published by Kyle Books with editions in the UK, the USA, Australia and Canada. Forthcoming editions for Russia & Italy

“I think the process of making any type of pastry is a soothing process.  The time and patience it takes is the perfect time to unwind and be in the moment.  I have experienced and seen the calming and therapeutic effects that pastry making has, and I recommend pie making to anyone that just wants to forget the world, at least for a while. ”

What People Say…

“There’s a great deal of mindfulness in everything that Julie does and we were touched by the ethos behind her baking, and that has carried on months after our class - when the going gets tough, get baking, or faffing as Julie would say and we can't wait to get Julie back again to teach us something else."

— Jane Thompson
